So, I have to make this a quick post today. They had fun things for the kids to do last night so we took our wee one out to enjoy the fun! She is totally a spitting image of me. Kinda scary lol!

TheNest "photo assignments"

So, I often visit thenest to pass the days. There are a few photographers on there and we decided to do weekly "photo assignments." I think this will help me a lot in learning about photography and learning what works and what doesn't. This weeks assignment is "fall colors." Mrs. R's Cute Kids

Yesterday was so much fun shooting these two! I was incredibly nervous about doing this one because I didn't get the opportunity to "practice" on my neice and nephew. Everything went great! They were very easy to work with. I did, however, learn a very important lesson. When shooting babies have the mom stand right behind me so the baby is "looking at the camera." I think I got some great shots of these two. Please feel free to leave any advice or feed back. Shoot tomorrow

Well, I'm supposed to have a shoot tomorrow with a 2 year old and an 8 month old. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and won't rain. I'm a bit nervous about it. I really wish I was able to "practice" with my neice and nephew but that didn't work out. :( I have a few poses in mind that I think would be cute, but I'm not really for sure how much I will be able to do with them. I don't really remember my little one at two having that long of an attention span. Wish me luck!

My external flash

So I finally got out my external flash and played around with it a bit today. I totally wish I had done this before this weekend. It helps so much with my photos.

My first real shoot!

My best friend let me do a maternity shoot with her and her husband. I was so nervous at first, but once we got going everything seemed to fall more and more into place. Sessions this weekend :D

So I have a few things going on this weekend! I'm so excited! I get to do a session with my sister and her husband and their two kids. So excited about this because their little boy is around 6 months old and will give me a chance to "see what I can do" with a baby that small. We're, also, going to another pumpkin patch with my dad and I would love to put my daughter in her Tinker Bell costume from halloween last year and shoot her in that. I think it would be totally cute but I imagine people will look at us like we are crazy. lol. Oh the things you do for a great shot! Also, I'm going to my best friends baby shower and she is letting me do a maternity shoot with her. I'm so excited about this. Pregnant ladies can just be so beautiful and she is so pretty. I really hope we can get her husband out there too, but if we don't I still have some great ideas in mind. :D Wish me luck! I'll post pics from all three when we get back.

Setting a goal.

So, I figured I should set a goal and work towards that. My goal is to do a wedding by the time we leave, should be around August 2009. I think it would be so fun to capture someone's beautiful day. I was so inspired by planning my own wedding and by not having the photos I wanted of my wedding. So I have around 2 years to achieve this. Wish me luck!

Hunting Trip Two

So a few people suggested a few places that I should go to see if the locations would work. We also got a "driving tour" map and visited a few spots on there too. The locations were beautiful! I, however, don't think I really captured the beauty of them. Maybe it was because I was merely trying to document the location, or maybe it was because I didn't have cooperrative "models." Either way, I still want to try these out and give them a chance.

So I got my copyright registered today! Now all I have to do is wait for it to get here in the mail. I'm so excited!

And we went out and about again today. We found some AWESOME locations. I'll post pictures from today in a few.

A few new things happening

So I created a myspace for my photography too. Created it yesterday and I already have 5 sessions booked and a few more that have contacted me about a session. To be all honest, I'm so nervous. These will be my first "professional" shoots, so I hope they go well. It will most definately be a learning experience. I will, however, get to shoot my sister and her family before I take a stabe at my clients. I, also, have become a member of Operation Love Reunited. Being a part of this I will shoot families who's soldier is getting ready to deploy or return from a deployment. Feel free to check out my profile on there. You can, also, get more detailed information of what this type of shoot would contain if you are interested. I just got signed up with them today. Therefore I am not booking any of these types of shoots yet, but I will be in the next week or so.

So we went on a hunting trip today to try to find locations that would work for shoots. Here are some of the photos of the locations that we went today. I know this area has so much more to offer, I just have to find those "sweet spots" that will let my creativity run wild.

I'm really happy we were able to make it out to the pumpkin patch. I felt I had a variety of backgrounds to work with and things to shoot.
